A MILLION THANKS YOUTH CLUB
Imagine giving your students a meaningful way to work together and make a difference — that’s exactly what happens when you sponsor an A Million Thanks® Youth Club. An AMT Youth Club is a student-led group within your school that provides young people with the opportunity to support service members and veterans in a structured, impactful way.
YEAR ONE REQUIREMENTS
The focus is on getting organized, recruiting members, holding meetings, learning the ropes, and meeting monthly minimums.
-
Faculty Sponsor – One sponsor is required to help oversee activities.
-
5 Members – One student leader + four additional members.
-
1 Club Meeting – Gather members for one hour each month.
-
30 Letters Written – Submit at least 30 handwritten letters each month.
-
Adopt 1 Unit – Raise funds to adopt at least one military unit each month.
-
5 Volunteer Hours – Volunteer 5 hours each month as a club.
These requirements ensure every club is consistently contributing letters, service hours, and support toward delivering appreciation to service members and veterans.
YEAR TWO AND BEYOND
As your club enters year 2 and beyond, expectations grow to reflect your experience and leadership. The focus shifts to expanding impact and connecting with your wider community.
- Faculty Sponsor – One sponsor continues to guide and support club activities.
- 10+ Members – President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer + five additional members
- 1 Club Meeting – Meet at least once a month to plan and take action.
- 60 Letters Written – Submit a minimum of 60 handwritten letters each month.
- Adopt 2 Units – Raise funds to adopt at least two military units each month.
- 10 Volunteer Hours – Track at least 10 combined service hours each month.
- 1 Community Engagement Event – Host at least one public-facing event each year.
Growth Benchmark: Aim for 6 letters and 1 volunteer hour per additional member, per month to maintain momentum and grow your impact.
VOLUNTEER HOURS
Each AMT Youth Club is expected to log at least 5 volunteer hours per month. This is measured as a combined effort — for example, if 5 members attend a 1-hour monthly meeting, your club has met the 5-hour requirement. Hours can also be earned through activities such as:
-
Writing and decorating letters
-
Hosting a table to collect letters at lunch
-
Organizing awareness activities for Veterans Day or Military Appreciation Month
-
Presenting about AMT in classrooms or at assemblies
-
Sorting, bundling, or preparing letters for mailing
-
Hosting a table at sporting event such as basketball or football games
Any additional activities simply add to your club’s overall impact and recognition.
FUNDRAISING
Each AMT Youth Club will be provided with a unique online fundraising link to share with family, friends, and supporters. This gives your club the flexibility to design your own fundraiser and track progress directly online. In addition, clubs have the option to:
-
Secure local sponsors to support Adopt-a-Unit commitments
-
Take donations at tabling events or letter-writing drives
-
Host creative fundraisers at school to raise awareness and funds
All funds raised by your club directly support the mission of A Million Thanks.
By joining an A Million Thanks® Youth Club, you become part of a nationwide movement of students committed to honoring and encouraging our service members and veterans.
