Each year during the week of Veteran’s Day, A Million Thanks and Southwest Airlines partner to give Southwest passengers the opportunity to write a post cards of thanks to active duty and veteran military. The “We LUV our Troops” campaign collected 15,000 post cards annually, which are collected on Southwest flights by flight crew and Southwest staff on ground. In addition individuals can Tweet their message of thanks to @SouthwestAir and the note will be transferred to a hand-written card and sent overseas.
A Million Thanks and Tiny Prints, a Shutterfly company, partnered to allow Americans to design and send holiday cards of appreciation to troops serving overseas. For two months, individuals could visit the Tiny Prints website, choose a pre-designed card or create their own, include photos and messages of love and thanks, and submit them. Tiny Prints then printed the cards and sent them to A Million Thanks for distribution to military. The campaign collected 500,000 cards.
During the month of May, which is National Military Appreciation Month, General Motors’ Buick, Pontiac, and GMC division placed collection boxes at 3,600 dealerships nationwide. Thousands of Americans visited the dealerships to write their message of thanks. Through a month-long PR and advertising push, along with three national television commercials highlighting the partnership, General Motors was able to collect one million letters that were distributed through A Million Thanks.
Since the inception of A Million Thanks, NASCAR has been one of the biggest supporters of the organization by allowing race fans to write letters to military at tracks around the country. From Talladega Superspeedway to Charlotte Motorspeedway to California’s Auto Club Speedway, NASCAR has helped A Million Thanks collect thousands of letters.
