WWE Delivers “A Million Thanks” 2.6 Millionth Letter in Iraq

America Supports You Members Working Together to Show Support For Troops

Camp Victory, Iraq – In a unique demonstration of how America Supports You team members are working together to show the support of the American people for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Superstars delivered a framed copy of founder of “A Million Thanks” Shauna Fleming’s, 2.6 millionth letter during the taping of “WWE Tribute to the Troops: Christmas in Baghdad” at Camp Victory today. America Supports You is a Department of Defense program that recognizes citizens’ support for the military men and women and their families serving around the world. “A Million Thanks.org” was the first member to join the America Supports You team.

“We want you to know that Americans do appreciate the work and service all of you provide to us back home every day, and the 2.6 million thank you letters and emails are proof of that,” read during the event from a personnel letter written by Fleming. “I am sorry I cannot be there with you today, but know that I pray for you and your families each day and thank God for your service to the greatest country in the world; the United States of America.”

In March of 2004, Fleming started the letter-writing campaign, “A Million Thanks”, at Lutheran High School in Orange, CA. Her goal was to send one million thank you letters and emails to U.S. military members serving around the world. Last year, then Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Richard B. Myers challenged Fleming to set a goal of 2.6 million letters, which symbolically would give each military man and woman serving in the U.S. Armed Forces a written thank you.

“All of us at on the America Supports You team are incredibly proud of Shauna, her family and the students and teachers at Lutheran High School for taking time out of their daily lives to collect and send the written expressions of love and support from the America people to those serving to protect us,” said Allison Barber, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and founder of America Supports You. “The successful delivery of this letter is one more example of how America Support You team members are coming together to demonstrate the support of the American people for the brave and honorable men and women serving in our military.”

The 2.6 millionth letter, sent by brother and sister Amber, (age) and Sean Siegfried, (age) of Easton, PA depicts a picture of a solider holding the hand of a young boy drawn with crayons on the cover of the card. Inside the card reads:

“We can not express enough how much we appreciate the job you are doing. Thank you so much for making sure we have a safe place to live in. You rock! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

This is the fourth straight year Armed Forces Entertainment has hosted WWE on a tour to entertain U.S. troops in the war zone. “WWE Tribute to the Troops: Christmas in Baghdad,” will air on USA Network at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on Christmas Day.
